A long history of bringing the Central Australian community together.

The Aileron Bush Club was formed in the 1930s. It was registered as the 'Barrow Creek Racing Club' and annually races were held at the Aileron grounds where they are today. These bush races were a very popular social event for both the pastoralists and town folk. 

All horses had to be grass fed and were very competitive considering there was no prize money. Prize money came into vogue in the 1970s. Gymkhana events were also held over the weekend. 

Aileron continued to hold gymkhana and campdraft events into the early 1980s. Unfortunately seasonal conditions saw the demise of the annual meetings at Aileron.

A classic bush event, reignited.

The Aileron Bush Club Inc. was formed in 2004 to rekindle the bush spirit of the outback events of a bygone era. May Day long weekend 2005 saw the first of the Aileron Bush Club Inc. weekend comprising of rodeo, gymkhana, ute competition and family novelty events. 

In 2007 the Aileron Bush Weekend was held over the Easter Long Weekend. This date change was strongly supported by the local community and as a result the committee has established this as the annual date over which the Aileron Bush Weekend is held. 

The gymkhana and rodeo events have been modified over the years to keep the crowds entertained. The Mexican Donkey Race has been an all time favourite with lots of laughs. 

Increases to the prize money has seen the rough stock nominations increase and as sad as it is, The Feature Memorial Rides are something the riders aim for, because of the prize money that can be won.
